Half a day in with Posterous

So far so good with Posterous. It looks like it can tick my boxes for being a low friction blogging platform.

So far the only "issues" I have are:

  • The web editor is very basic compared to many. No ability to control the appearance of images without editing the source code
  • No spell checker in the editor which is such a basic oversight. To compel the problem, Posterous seems to iinterfere with other checkers, the new iOS style spell checker in OSX Lion does not work. Be prepared for some mistakes, my spelling is atrocious!
  • Apparently no one told Posterous that Yahoo! have sold Delicious, as when you try and connect your Delicious account you are directed to the old Yahoo oAuth page, see screen shot below. Unsurprisingly it fails to authenticate.

Wordpress or Posterous?

5690663364_994283298a

I'm in the middle of a blogging platform crisis.

I've been using Wordpress for over two years as the platform for ibegyourparton.co.uk however Wordpress requires a lot of heavy lifting, even though in return you get total control over everything you could ever need. I'm starting to think a lightweight, zero hassle, alternative may be the way to go. I played with Tumblr but it didn't do it for me. Now I find myself creating a Posterous account.

Anyone got any experience of Wordpress vs Posterous? What is your advice?
