Unashamed proud father moment

The International Telecommunication Union is currently running a Green ICT Application Challenge. The closing date is the 15th July, so check it out and act fast. BlueVia together with Telefonica's Climate Change team promoted the contest at the recent Guardian (H)activate hack day in London. I took my kids along to the event, and my daughter in particular was inspired by the 'changing the world through technology' mantra of the day. Despite being too young to actually enter the competition, she came up with two ideas for mobile games that help to raise awarness of enviormentional issues. You can read the story here: http://www.rcysostenibilidad.telefonica.com/blogs/2011/07/05/little-big-green-ideas/ A big thank you to Cristina Buet from the International Telecommunication Union and Daniela Torres, Head of Climate Change at Telefonica for their kindness.

(H)activate and Activate 2011

It's been a busy week after two awesome events with The Guardian. This past weekend BlueVia, along with Nokia, sponsored a caused based hack dubbed (H)activate. The idea was to create software to help change the world. All the feedback I have seen has been hugely positive. Rather than repeat what has already been written about (H)activate, you can read more here: The main conference took place today, with Gareth Lloyd from the team that created the (H)activate winning SafeTrip presenting their concept to the conference. To read a succinct summary of the Twitter nuggets from Activate, check out my Storify story here.
